Fascinating article about developing an AI agent for a Starcraft competition. It makes you wonder whether this sort of thing is already being deployed on the battlefield. (And if not why?)

I'm sure they have been using AI modelling for many years. The question I have is if it got advanced enough would they be prepared to then limit the battles to AI vs AI in a computer sim, or would they still feel the need to play it out in real life with soldiers instead of pixels?
