Titanfall

Postby KRaM » Wed Aug 21, 2013 8:27 am

Looks pretty cool - could be the reboot of BF2142 that part of me hoped BF4 could be rather than another remake of BF2.

I am tempted but waiting for the Australian reviews - have heard they dont have any servers set up here yet so the play experience may be less than ideal.

So cracked the other day and picked this up at JB HiFi for 20% which prompted Origin to have a flash sale for 40% off the next day <sigh>.

Anyway after a couple of years of BF its nice to have a change of pace with some run and gun action. The wall running, double jumping mechanics works well and there are a number of different game modes to change things up. Only drawback is that there is no server browser only a matchmaking facility thats a bit slow (although I read they were having troubles with the servers on the weekend).

Will see if it stands the test of time ala BF4 but still recommended.

On a side note my 2.5 year + old rig (i5/8G RAM/Gigabyte ATI 6970) runs the game at the max of 60FPS with medium/high effects no problem at all. Remember the good old days when you had to upgrade every other week?

Saw you playing last night and wondered what made you fold.

If it's still 40% I might even consider it. Origin had a free download of plants vs zombies that I've been getting into though. It offers some different shooting action as well, but no wall running stuff.

No, it's not still on special, and on top of that they are also doing the BF4 thing with extra maps being additional purchase on top.

Really enjoy this game - when I can play it. There is no server browser only matchmaking and you spend forever waiting for the server to find a game. A real dealbreaker as I bought this with the intention of being able to jump in and out of games quickly rather than the 20 minutes + time commitment a BF4 round entails.

Until they get this fixed not recommended.
