Galactic Civilizations II

Postby DJDrDamage » Thu May 15, 2014 9:46 am

I have wanted to a play a 4X game for a while and saw this cheap on Steam.

Not too bad, although I have not tried high difficulties yet- will try that tonight.
Gal Civ 3 will be out this year with better graphics and probably AI, too.

also looked for some 4X games on teh iPad, and found a few.
all this gamesplay makes me want to learn ObjectiveC and develop a basic game. of course, then I need a Mac.

I dont really get 4x games - gave Civ5 a try but just ended up getting bored - not sure why the genre doesnt appeal given I quite like other turn based games ala HOMM and XCOM etc etc.

i understand. sometimes I get bored especially once i work out a formula to win.

i have not played any later civ's than Civ2. maybe the AI is better in Civ5?
I have read that that once modded, which I have done, GalCiv2 on higher difficulties is challenging but not only because the AI simply does things a human cannot do- it is more like playing a human than, say, Deep Blue. I will probably stick with it for another few games and drop it to start playing Dark Souls.
