I will definitely give the demo a go.

It looks a lot more complicated than BF2142 and seems to require a lot more co ordinated play to fufill all of the objectives.

I'm open, while not a fan quake as a whole, I like the look of the class based objectives. Could be interesting.

I haven't even paid it any attention and only really know anything of it from other peoples comments.

I'll give the demo a go as well though. I'll be mostly interested in what their stats system does though coz I'm pretty tired of simple frag-fest games now and I like to see if I am actually improving in reality and not just in my own mind :)

The graphics look nice, but I'm worried about the hardware requirements. As long as they don't use crappy tricks like the shadows in Doom3 then it should be good.

This does not bode well

One important facet of the game that we found most surprising was the pace of the game. As big vets of the Battlefield and Counter-Strike games, we're used to the slow pace of your trooper as he trudges his way over the landscape, keeping our eyes peeled on the stamina metre to make sure we don't exhaust our poor virtual selves.

So when we jumped into the fashionable human-skin boots of a Strogg trooper, and zipped through the battle at a rate of knots, we were a little taken aback. Same goes for the GDI troops - obviously the government has been putting some speed enhancers in the water supply. It's not quite up there with Quake 4 speeds, but reflects the higher-paced movement of the original Enemy Territory.

To be honest, we didn't like it at first. But after an hour or so of getting used to it, this new speed really grew on us - the battles had a liveliness and pace that made them very stressful and hectic. After each round, we'd sit back in our chairs, take a deep breath… and then do it all over again.

There's one drawback though - it doesn't appear as if there's a stamina metre (we couldn't find one). So bunny hopping is back with a vengeance; expect every fire-fight to turn into an acrobatic display of space-bar pumping.

I hated Quake & that stupid futuristic one in the abstract buildings, end-to-end of the map in 3 seconds? Hyper-jumping with your rocket gun?

Bollocks.

Well, I gotta say, it certainly looks pretty.

The Valley Map Guide for the map in the demo looks like it will be worth giving it a good going over. Maybe a break from BF would be good for a while. We've all been full-on with BF for over 2 years now! I first played BF2 on the 2 Sept 2005!!

I just watched the training videos... and wow.

I thought BF2 and 2142 wouldn't work because you'd never get enough teamwork happening to keep it moving, but with the full objectives based combat this has it looks like any semi-structured groups (ie: clans) are going to be required to get anywhere!

For my part though... Strogg looks like the place to be. Way cooler looking weapons :D

It does look cool doesnt it. Maybe it will just be a matter of adjusting our playing style to a different set of rules.

The proof will be in the gore laden frag fested blood pudding.

I don't think we are dying off, but we are in a temporary lull. I have decided not to take up QW because I'm waiting to see where we are going. Kram, Brad, Celtic Fist, Mort and myself have been playing TF2 a fair bit over the last couple of weeks. When the game goes live we will make a final call. Its fun but not that techical so we might not play it for ever. Out of the techincal style FPS shooters have not seen anything better than BF yet, but I needed a break from BF.

I can see the clan splitting into a couple of different games for a while until the next big thing.

Rest assured, gaming lives on.

It certainly does and there are a lot of multiplayer FPS coming up which are worthy of consideration.

I am getting more and more into TF2 - be sure to join teamspeak to encourage that teamplay goodness.

In these troubled times with an upcoming election and the threat of the country being run by Rudd and his socialist master Harold Holt in China it is vital that Clan Budda Budda continues to exercise it considerable conservative influence on the masses.

I would have said that, as the outside world crumbles into a world of dust while the environazis are in power, believing they are powered by god. We may as well continue the push for better graphics because our screens, will be the only way our kids will see the world that was. That assuming their bosses let them have any time off at all to see it.

I think it's important to note that clan BuddaBudda will never die off, for one very simple reason.

We don't exist because of any particular game, we exist mostly because we are a bunch of people that are already a "clan" away from the computers all together. And maybe also one other reason

Many other clans out there formed with one particular game in mind, and those clans die off when those games die off. In [BB] we will always welcome other games (except ones that encourage Granny killing) and the fact that we aren't all playing the same game is irrelevant. If a few of us happen to be playing the same game then it just helps add the the fun to play with other friends.

We haven't decided yet about QW, but you are more than welcome to continue playing and making your own pitch and views on the game known. When/if others start playing then you can be our Sensei who can help guide our path to enlightenment.
