The new map

Postby Mort » Tue Jul 10, 2007 9:41 am

wow, long time without any posts in the BF2 forums!

Anyway, with the 1.4 patch coming soon for 2142 with the new map, I'm thinking of patching up BF2 and giving the new map a run to:
1. Get a feel for the layout as I assume it will basically be the same in 2142
2. See if my skillz from 2142 have translated to make me a better BF2 player or not

However, it may just be that I end up being too lazy and don't do it at all in the end... but it's a thought in case anyone else wants to give it a try.

I'm long since uninstalled on Bf2.

Scott Hopwood was in Vietnam in May and seeing his photos on Hue was quite funny. Scott stopped at BF Vietnam and you could see the map of Hue in his photos bigtime. ALso the palace map complete with tunnels.

BF Vietnam with the stats / badges of the latest games would be fantastic, easily my favourite BF product purely on atmosphere and maps alone.

I tried it the other day - it's heavily skewed to one side - US, which I guess would be EU - as they're much nearer the majority of the flags.
It's also designed to have inflatable dinghies as a major transport option, with lots of waterways, so I don't know how that's going to translate.

I think I counted 10 vehicles in each base - 2 air, 3 tanks, 2 apc, 3 fav so expect columns of armour.

Should be a good map - lots of armour will be fun considering the Engineer class is so powerful now with the Pilum and motion mines.

Remember the good old days - the engineer class sucked seriously large black balls.

You had to be repairing forever to get a repair point, people steered around your mines and you had a shot gun which you only really had one shot with).
