I have been tempted by GTA V but I still remember how spectacularly crappy the PC port of GTA IV was - will wait for the reviews before I buy - which I probably will anyway - who am I kidding?

Held over till April I see - the nerd rage in the Blues News comments yesterday were hilarious. If they need a few more weeks to get it right whats the harm?

What are they going to improve in two weeks: shoelace rendering? This is my first foray into GTA, I think i'll find it impressive in any state.
Once I did a boom gnarly stunt trick on it and a girl got pregnant just by watching my extremeness to the maxxxx.

Do you still have this? Maybe I should see what it's all about.

I have a Playstation2 copy of San Andreas, but I never really got into it much, possibly because I hate playing those sort of games on consoles, and also because of limitations around being able to play on the TV in the lounge room.

its a pretty good game but vicei is the highlight of the series. NGTA 5 might take its place though - the trailers make it look that way and when have they ever lied?

Well whilst it downloads another patch some thoughts:
- all up its good news - its not the train wreck that was IV - the buzz is true about how good it looks on the PC - I have everything pretty much maxed out with GTX970 and it runs smooth - 60 FPS most of the time with the odd drop to 40+
- gameplay is more of the same but feels fun - early days yet here
- only negative is its a little crashy - have had a couple of dumps to desktop which I am not used to in this day and age - not heaps but enough to be annoying
- havent properly tried the online heists yet

GTAV is superb, I'm having a great time just wandering about the city and discovering stuff - although it's a bit less open world than GTAIV - i.e. you can't enter every single building. (Probably why it works better).

The multiple characters thing is pretty cool, it's like playing three separate games at once, that keep overlapping.
I've started doing the pasttimes - playing tennis and golf etc - so there's a heap of extra minigames inside it.

It runs REALLY WELL without need of a hardware upgrade - so while it supports 4K at 60fps, they got it right this time and it scales nicely to lower spec systems.
I'm running 1920x1200 at 30fps with a four year old 6970 GPU.

Yep, still have it - it's yours if you want it.
