Looks like I'm a victim too Adrian. I suspected this after chatting with the guys the other day. So I have to purchase it from EA then?

i have emailed support (on Saturday night) and updated the support ticket today, quoting some of the thread Mort provided. I also asked for a refund.
EA Store (or EB at our shops?) may be the best bet for now and hope for a refund or a Steam credit if nothing else.
pain in the a$$, really. and for no good reason, either.

since i am going away for Xmas/new Year and beyond I probably will not get tie to play, anyway. and I have Starcraft II so am covered for a while.

Yep I checked this out - if you have the Retail copy you need to buy the expansion from the EA store- Steam copy then Steam store.

Steam copy you can buy BFV from anywhere, you just get sent a key when you buy it. The problem buying BFV on Steam if you have a non-steam game is that Steam wants to link it to your existing core game, which you don't have, so it's got nothing to link it to. Can't say I understand why that would be the case really. If it's just a key then they could still send it to you through Steam and you just type it into your game the same way us Steam people have to anyway.

I think EAStore is the only way to buy it other than Steam. There is no content/DVD etc as it's just a CD-Key you get. The content is already included in that last update to BFBC2 that was sent out a few weeks back.

Thats the missing bloody link. I have bought the EA one now and I have been waiting for the download link, I only need the key. Damn, now I get it.

That all works now and due to my buying a second copy, I now have two key codes that work, I think. Anyone who wants one that has not yet made the purchase can have my spare as a Christmas gift.

Ah, *THAT'S* why I can never see you're playing it in my friends list, Keith!
How many people didn't buy it through Steam? I've started adding my games to Steam as non-steam shortcuts, so others can then see what I'm doing (there doesn't seem to be a way to add "downloading porn" as a shortcut, so I guess you won't know when I'm doing that).

Just add IE/FF/Chrome or whatever as an "other" app. If we don't see you on the forums then we'll know what else you are doing then.

If no-one else wants it, I'll take it - I've given BFBC2 to my brother for christmas, but for some reason steam wont let you give BFV as a gift...

I'll lend you a coupla' bucks if you need to buy it Brad :) You shouldn't have spent all your money on the pretty new guns and uniforms pack.

I think Steam stopped letting you gift it because a lot of people get it as a gift and then couldn't use it because of this whole issue with not having the original game on steam. Maybe there wasn't an easy way for them to be sure the recipient already had the game so they stopped it rather than have more people complaining.
