I quite enjoy the bling factor of the Logitech g19. Being able to see pc stats, teamspeak on the display is handy, and the macro keys are good and backlit keyboard is actually quite cool. None of it essential but depends what you want/like. There are plenty of cheaper options though :)

Mwave have been plugging a mechanical keyboard which would be pretty solid for gaming and would be long lasting.

Or you can pick up a keyboard for $20 that will be good enough till it breaks and then get another one...

I have the G19 which is a solid little unit. I have set up macros for games in the past but never really got into the habit of using them - the backlighting and display functionality are handy though.

Do you have a g19 or the g15?

Either one is good if you want the screen part. Not sure about the g15, but you can even watch YouTube on the g19 screen while you play Battlefield.

You caught me - I was trying to big note myself - its the older style G15 for me.

If I was going to replace it I would probably give one of those mechanical keyboards a go.

I have the old G15 at home - cant live without the LCD display for monitoring the temps in my computer (using AIDA64).

However, at work I have switched to using an apple keyboard. Now I've got used to it, I prefer the minimal throw for typing.

It is a lot, but bling costs.

I seemed to cope quite well for several years on a crappy Compaq $5 keyboard, so it really depends on how much you appreciate yourself :)

as Keith said, $80 is probably a decent price for a good keyboard, but at the end of the day you'll adapt to whatever you get quickly enough.

Two grand is a lot of money for a mouse. I'm sure you can do better than that. Keep in mind a mouse has less buttons than a keyboard, so it will take a lot longer to type stuff.
