Battlefield 1

Postby Mort » Mon May 09, 2016 11:33 am

Oh look over there, it's a new Battlefield.

Although I suspect we may all be over that now, this certainly does look pretty.

there's something about WW1 tech that isn't as appealing as other eras.

The Mark IV tanks have always been something I loved as a kid. I'd get it just to drive one of them around :)

Oh look, the beta is coming soon.

I wonder if any of the other BF titles will ever finish their beta testing?

oh well, no BF1 for me.

Turns out it requires a minimum version of the video drivers, and AMD have seen fit to classify my poor ancient 6950 as "legacy" and the new drivers aren't supported for it.

Trying to make sense of the current graphics card model numbers is tough, so just need to decide if I could be bothered upgrading just to play *yet another battlefield 2 year beta*

You can download the free beta to try it out. Videos look fun, but I'm back in the position with every BF game... do I want to go through this again?

Found a hack that tricks it into letting me play on my card, but the beta had expired so missed out.

Looking at prices, I think I might wait for it to come down a bit.

Standard: $89.99
Deluxe: $109.99
Ultimate: $169.98

It looks like you can sign up for Origin Access for $6.99/month, get a 10% discount, then can cancel the Origin Access and save enough for a cup of coffee.

169.98 lucky it's not 169.99 or it would be a total rip off. Other day in the smh they were talking about a pair of speakers for 59,999.99 - same marketing logic seems to apply regardless of price and product.
