Wireless Internet

Postby Ed » Sat Jul 24, 2010 5:36 pm

Hi,
I have a g wireless modem & router at home and the wireless signall is weak in part of the house. I bought a n router and a High gain antenna to improve it but I still only get a reasonable ok signall in other parts of the house, not full strength reception.

What set up do you have at your place for wireless?

I have a ADSL 2 billion modem and it works like a dream - mind you the living room is right above the downstairs room the modem lives in.

I just have a single abg router sitting about in the middle of the house. Gets great reception all the way out to the street and all the way down to the back of the pool. Starts to drop off a bit near the back fence but still works fine.

Well, we all have to compensate for our personal inadequacies in our own way. Some of of keep score making babies, some get bigger houses. To each their own.

I have no trouble unless the dumb dlink resets to block all devices, which it does every now and then. It also has trouble remembering the settings so the key might abruptly revert to default every now and then. My study is in the middle of the house, the only trouble I've encountered is the far side of the living room, but the Wii can always connect, my old work ThinkPad would sometimes lose a connection, the new one and Tash's are fine.

Check your modem/router config to see if you can change the signal strength, mine's always at 100%.
